Courtney Ries offers the following tips on finding an all inclusive resort in Fiji, and what the various kinds of plans typically include.   Courtney Ries, travel writer

Unlike their larger counterparts in the Caribbean, all-inclusive resorts in Fiji tend to be smaller, quieter and more intimate, with individual bures (bungalows) instead of a hotel room. Many are considered all-inclusive by guests because meals are a part of the price...usually because the resort is located on its own private island and there's nowhere else to eat close by! However, these places are not typically marketed as all-inclusive. Instead, they may be referred to as resorts with MAP, FAP or EP programs.
  • MAP stands for Modified American Plan, which includes breakfast and dinner or lunch and dinner with the room rates.
  • FAP means Full American Plan, where prices include all three standard meals.
  • Lastly, the EP - European Plan - offers no meals with the price.

Vomo Island Resort, Fiji   Only a 15-minute flight from Nadi, Vomo Island Resort is a great all-inclusive option in the Yasawa Islands.

Prices include all meals, non-motorized activities and non-alcoholic beverages, along with tennis, golf and other promotional specials, like champagne upon arrival.

Also located in the Yasawa Islands, Yasawa Island Resort includes all meals, non- alcoholic beverages and most activities in its room rates.

The resort is the only one on the island, and caters to no more than 34 people at a time.

Yasawa Island Resort also has one of the most extensive wine lists in the country.

Namale Fiji Island Resort and Spa   An all inclusive resort located an hour flight from Nadi, the Namale Fiji Island Resort and Spa has 16 thatched-roof bures with hardwood floors, large windows and ceiling fans.

Guests are called to breakfast, lunch and dinner with the beating of a lali drum, with options to dine on the main deck or in private, on decks over the ocean.

Vatulele Island Resort is south of Viti Levu, Fiji's main island.

A five-star resort, Vatulele offers sensational diving with in-house instructors.

Set on 85 acres, Vatulele Island Resort has its own private honeymoon island that guests can reserve for a day, as well as a number of locations for intimate private meals – all of which are included.

Jean Michel Cousteau's Fiji Islands Resort   Jean Michel Cousteau's Fiji Islands Resort has garnered a number of accolades in recent years, including Trip Advisor's #1 ranking for the world's most environmentally- friendly accommodation, the #1 resort in Fiji from Travel + Leisure in 2001 and #1 resort in Fiji again from Conde Nast Traveler in 2006. All meals and non- alcoholic bottled beverages are included in the price, although you'll have to pay extra for alcoholic drinks. Room rates also include transfers to and from Savusavu and complimentary childcare from 8AM to 9PM.

A resort popular with the rich and famous – or those who value privacy – The Wakaya Club has only nine bures, each with a private garden and two outdoor decks.

The marine sanctuary reef located in front of the property allows you to snorkel right from shore, or head to more than a dozen dive sites a little further away.

Relax with a game on the tennis course of 9-holes of golf.
