Creative registry item of the month
This month our winners are Margaret & Dan, who recently honeymooned in Hong Kong!
A Night of Hong Kong Cinema
|
|
|
"If Hong Kong is known for anything, it's kung fu and action movies.
The home of Jackie Chan, John Woo and Andy Lau,
HK is a rare place in which you can watch a movie filmed and produced entirely in that city,
sometimes only days before it hits the screen! It's not unheard of to catch a glimpse
of the marquee of the classic HK theatre you're sitting in in the movie you're watching.
Popcorn and Jr. Mints at the concession stand? Try fried squid and skewered fishballs!"
Wedding planning survey results
|
|
|
Well over 1000 brides have responded to our survey of wedding couples--and some of the answers are a bit surprising:
70% of brides say that their internet is proving more helpful than their mother in planning their wedding.

Photo Stamps
|
This is a very cool new offering from the U.S. Postal Service. You can make your own real, legal U.S. postage
stamps from your own photos!
We got a letter from one of our couples with their pic on the stamp just last week.
At right is a preview of the stamps I've just ordered for
myself. That's my wife Melinda, looking out over Meru National Park at sunrise,
at Elsa's Kopje, Kenya, on our
honeymoon back in September.

It's a little spendy for everyday stamps, but might be fun for your wedding invites, for instance. With shipping,
a book of 20 custom stamps is about $20. Find out more details and volume pricing at
photo.stamps.com/PhotoStamps.

Your charitable donations
|
|
|
Back in May of 2004, we added a list of national charities to our Registry Wizard, and since then, our couples have
been making charities an option on their registries, and letting their wedding guests donate in the couples' names
to charities that have special meaning to our couples and their families.
We're pleased to announce that donations to charity from our couples' registries
totalled over $25,000 in 2005!
Thank you all very much for your generosity.

New Year's blessing from Vows from the Heart of Scotland
|
Our friend and past Big Day customer Rev. Christopher Tuttle (from Vows from the Heart of Scotland)
sent me this New Year's Blessing. It sent my spell-checker into a tailspin, but I thought I'd include
it today anyway :-)
| |
A guid New Year tae an’ a’,
An’ mony may ye see;
An’ during a’ the years tae come,
O, happy may ye be.
An’ may ye ne’er have cause tae mourn,
Tae cry or shed a tear;
Tae ane an’ a’, baith great an’ sma’,
A hearty guid New Year.
|
Thanks Rev. Christopher, and a Happy New Year to you and all our customers!
