Creative registry item of the month
This month our winners are Lindsay & Ted, who are jetting off to Fiji this fall
for their honeymoon. They're going to cool their heels for a bit on the island of Beqa:
Hot, Hot Hot! (Beqa Firewalking Ceremony)
The island of Royal Davui is located next to the island of Beqa (pronounced Bengga), renowned as the birthplace of the famous local practice of firewalking. Legend has it that, centuries ago, an ancient Fijian spirit gave the inhabitants, the Sawau tribe, the power to walk barefoot and unharmed over hot stones.

Visitors to Royal Davui Island are able to witness this very special ancient ceremony, traditionally involving digging a large deep pit which is lined with stones that are heated by a wood fire until they are white-hot. The local men then enter the pit and walk in single file across the stones: incredibly, they appear to suffer no pain and there are no traces of injury.

Dealing with Jet Lag
|
|
It turns out that wearing sunglasses during a long flight can help you adjust to the new time zone much more quickly!
Researchers at British Airways'
Edinburgh Sleep Centre
advise passengers on long flights to wear sunglasses to reduce the effects of jet lag. They've even
created an online Jet Lag Advisor
that offers guidance on how to use light in order to lessen the jet lag effects.
