Happy Hallowe'en from all of us at TheBigDay!
Creative pumpkin carving by Chris & Stacey Willis...former neighbors of Michael

I'm back from my honeymoon--Melinda and I were in the Seychelles (fabulous tropical islands about 1,000 miles off the east coast of Africa), and also in Kenya on some photo safaris. Of course we came back with a billion pictures! Luckily, a friend had told me about Picasa, a very cool (and free!) tool for organizing and editing your photos. More on that below--and, if you're interested in hearing more about the Seychelles, just drop me a note at Michael@thebigday.com.

Creative registry item of the month

This month our winners are Rachel & Adam from California, who will soon be leaving on their honeymoon to Tahiti!

Shark and Ray feeding expedition

"We are feeling adventuresome! By canoe, we will enjoy a thrilling encounter with these friendly fish. An amazing excursion that we will never forget."
The fun stuff on your registry always get bought first!

Movie: The Wedding Date

The Wedding Date, starring Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney   Starring Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney, this is a fun, romantic comedy about a woman who hires a handsome professional escort to pose as her boyfriend at her half sister's wedding.

There's a trailer you can see online here; also click the link to Games: you can design your perfect date online, or take the Wedding Etiquette quiz, which is pretty funny as well.

Picasa for your honeymoon pics

I discovered this cool free tool from Google called Picasa--it makes it really easy to manage a lot of photos on your computer, creating thumbnail views automatically for you, and making it super-easy to do image-editing basics like cropping, zooming, adjusting contrast, etc.
  Check out Picasa from Google

It will also allow you to select a number of pics from your folders and quickly burn a CD of them. Click here to find out more about Picasa (try their tour, or just dive in and download it like I did :-).

TheBigDay Wedding Survey

Our wedding couples survey   We've been running a survey for wedding couples on our website. With several hundred responses in, we're finding some interesting and surprising results:
  • 70% say the internet is more helpful than their mother (12%) or wedding books & magazines (13%)
  • 13% said that the internet helped them find their spouse
  • 54% said that the internet has helped them find their dress
  • only 18% said that magazines were their most important resource for finding a wedding dress
  • 75% said they'd used the internet to help pick their honeymoon location (ok, so we're not surprised at that one!)
And, in case there's any doubt that the internet's important to today's bride, check out the results for this question:

"If you were stranded on a desert island, and could choose only one of the following to help you plan your wedding, what would it be?"

76% picked a computer with internet access (the top 3 wedding magazines only scored 3%!).
