Quite possibly, there is nothing more romantic than waking up on your honeymoon, walking out your front door and seeing the crystal-clear
blue ocean surround your overwater bungalow. As you sit down on the edge with your beloved, you dangle your feet into the cool water
and watch in amazement as the colorful fish swim around your toes.
Smiling, you tilt your head upwards to feel the morning sun on your face and as your partner takes your hand, you realize that there is
no place in the world you would rather be.

What are Overwater Bungalows?
Overwater bungalows are, as the name implies, rooms positioned over water.
In the Maldives and occasionally elsewhere, they are referred to as 'water villas',
such as the Maldives Hilton Over Water Villas,
pictured right.
Usually, over-water bungalows are located close to shore, allowing for easy access to the main resort building,
its beaches and amenities. In many resorts, the overwater bungalows are clustered together.
Honeymooners should note that sound travels better on water than it does on land!

Most overwater bungalows are linked to the mainland via long plank walkways.
The bungalows themselves are hoisted above the water on sturdy pillars and sit on large platforms.
Often times, they contain a glass coffee table or floor so you can look at the water and its wildlife below, like at
the Le Meridien Bora Bora, left.
But remember...if you can see they fish, they can see you too!
