From Meru National Park and the Masai Mara in Kenya, to the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, ending at the beautiful resort of The Palms in Zanzibar. These properties are absolutely at the top of our list for where we would want to take our significant others to experience Africa!
  • Airfare packages estimated at $2,000 per person coach, $7,500 business class from the US

  • Year round departures

Day 1

Day 1 – Nairobi, Kenya

After you have cleared customs, you will continue on to international arrivals where you will be met and escorted to the House of Waine in the Langata district outside the city. The location is fabulous as it is close to Wilson airport and many of Nairobi's most interesting sites – the Giraffe Center, the Karen Blixen Museum, and the crazy and famous Carnivore's game restaurant.

This 11-room property is set on 2.5 acres that blends the elegance of gracious living with the spirit of modern Africa in an exclusive and serene setting. Each room is individually styled and then names to reflect their different themes ensuring that no two are exactly alike.

Day 2

Days 2 & 3 - Meru National Park, Kenya

You are transferred to the Kenya's regional airport and connect by private charter for the Northern Highlands. Elsa's Kopje is a luxurious oasis in the stunning Meru National Park, home to Elsa the lioness made famous by George and Joy Adamson. 8 thatched stone cottages blend into the hillside, each with its own bath or shower and toilet en-suite and private verandah with a unique view. The cottages face across seemingly endless savannah, fringed with doum palms, crisscrossed by 13 rivers. This park is renowned for its Elephant herds and fantastic flora and scenery.

Enjoy an evening beverage at the aptly named Hard Rock Cafe watching the sunset behind Mt. Kenya in the distance. You spend the entire next day on game drives with your guide in the bush.

Day 4

Days 4, 5 & 6 - Maasai Mara, Kenya

A short charter flight will have you in the Mara. Cottar's will be waiting to pick you up on arrival. The Cottar's 1920's Safari Camp is situated in an extensive and exclusive concession between the Maasai Mara, Serengeti and Loliondo reserves where a few Purko Maasai clan roam. This area has been untouched by any kind of tourism or development and offers the discerning client a guarantee of privacy. Founded in 1919, Cottar's Camp is family run and operated.

The camp accommodates up to twelve clients in authentic white canvas tents, which are spacious and luxuriously furnished and incorporate original safari antiques from the '20's; private en suite dressing rooms and bathrooms (with old-fashion styled tubs, showers and flushing toilets), the main bedroom and an outdoor veranda. Staff in traditional attire tote hot bucket showers and prepare meals from recipes originally used in the 1920's. There is a full-time masseuse based at the camp for complimentary massages, manicures and pedicures. Any other needs that guests may have will be met by butlers who have been trained to provide guests with discreet, yet attentive service.

Guest activities include game drives guided by Calvin Cottar or guides of equal professional stature in either state of the art modern four wheel drive cars, in our authentic, old wooden car or in our oxen pulled wagon. As the concession is outside the game parks, guided walking and night drives are also available. By walking, guests can get that much closer to nature, and if an opportunity to track wild game presents itself, the trained trackers will take guests even closer still.

Alternatively, a tented reading room with an extensive array of Africana and modern books and magazines or our natural rock swimming pool with surrounding hammocks, will allow those who wish to merely while away an afternoon resting and viewing the most splendid panorama.

Day 7

Days 7 & 8 - Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

Your charter flight delivers you to Nairobi, where you will transfer to your flight into Tanzania. Upon arrival at the Manyara airstrip, your transfer will be waiting to bring you into the lodge. You will arrive around lunchtime at The Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. You will have time to tour the grounds and have your first glimpse of the crater.

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge - At the eastern edge of the Serengeti, and nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera of the once-volcanic Ngorongoro shelters the most beautiful wildlife haven left on earth. Perched on the edge of the ancient crater rim, the architectural masterpiece of the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is a magnificent return to the noble elegance of the traveling colonials. Inspired in design by the Masai manyatta, three separate camps remember a bygone era. The lodge is composed of separate camps, each consisting of just six to twelve suites.

Each sumptuous suite is discreetly tended by a personal butler, who will bring you tea in bed, stoke your fireplace and even draw your bath, scattering the water with rose petals, ready for your return from your safari and lavish picnic on the crater floor. Under the soaring banana thatch roof, suede, velvet, silk and taffeta establish the decadence of the bedroom while Zanzibari carving and chandeliers (hand-made by the Maasai) float above a central stone-clad bath. All of this however, remains subordinate to the magnificence of the verdant crater that pours through the window of every room. The three intimate camps at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge are totally private ensuring ultimate guest exclusivity. The public areas at each of the camps have awe-inspiring views of the crater below and beyond and include a central dining area, lounge and curio shop.

An outdoor dining and/or viewing deck has been suspended seemingly above the crater rim and captures the renowned breathtaking African sunsets over the crater. Each of the lounges has a wonderful selection of books and wildlife magazines. Activities include scheduled morning or afternoon game drives in the Ngorongoro Crater in closed game viewing vehicles. Additional activities available at and additional cost and subject to availability of vehicles include visits to Olduvai Gorge, Shifting Sands or a Maasai village.

You head out at dawn for the crater floor and spend the entire day game viewing. You are sure to see huge herds of zebra, wildebeest and buffalo intermixed with the smaller gazelles and impala. All of these grazers ensure that the predators - lion, leopard and hyena are close behind. The lake in the center of the crater is home to thousands of pink flamingo. The forested area is quite popular with the ever-hungry families of elephant. You will descend again the next morning for another look around the crater floor.

Day 9

Days 9, 10 & 11 – Bwejuu, Zanzibar

Nestled between tropical gardens and a white beach, The Palms provides a range of beautifully appointed facilities reflecting the warmth and character of local architecture in an elegant yet relaxing way. You have three days to fish, surf, scuba, snorkel and beach comb. This area boasts the softest beaches on the island and has incredible coral reefs.

The Palms consists of 6 private villas, each with a bedroom, living room, full en-suite bathroom, extra room with en-suite bathroom and a large furnished terrace with a view of the Indian Ocean. Additional features include a private outdoor jacuzzi, mini bar, CD player, and coffee/tea making facilities. The fusion of cultures in Zanzibar has created an exotic cuisine which blends spices and flavors of the island starting with just caught with just picked.
