There are two lodges at Ulusaba. One is perched high on the summit of a koppie (rocky hill), called Rock Lodge. It is here where you will find spectacular panoramic views over miles of bush, the wildlife roaming within, and the beauty of the lowveld (bushy grassland plain) below, all set against a backdrop of the Drakensberg Mountain range far in the distance.

Choosing Rock Lodge as your base during your safari in South Africa will not only mean you’ll be receiving first class treatment but you will also be entitled to access to the many facilities and activities offered by the safari lodge. When you’re not being kept busy by a walking safari or a game drive you could indulge in an aroma therapy beauty treatment or thrash it out in the fully equipped gymnasium.

The other of Ulusaba's luxury safari accommodation offerings is the Safari Lodge which is built along the banks of the dry Mabrak riverbed.

The rooms are built 'tree house' style and you really get the feeling of being at the heart of life in the bush. Your room will provide fascinating views of the animals as they stroll past on their way to the nearby watering hole.

Beauty Treatments

As if some of the finest game viewing, cuisine and views in Africa weren’t already enough, not to mention luxurious rooms and staff that make you feel so at home, Ulusaba also has a boutique spa at both the Rock and Safari Lodges. The Aroma Boma Virgin Touch Salon offers a fabulous range of treatments to help you relax and unwind after the excitement of game drive.

Guinot Treatments offered include a liftosome facial uses a high concentration of vitamin C and proteins to strengthen elasticity and firmness whilst stimulating cellular regeneration. Our resident beautician also offers aromatherapy massages, manicures, pedicures and waxing.

Activities

Game Drive

A safari in South Africa is a wonderful way to spend a holiday, at Ulusaba we offer game drives in open 4x4 game viewing safari vehicles twice a day as well as nature walks. These activities are included in your luxury safari accommodation rates.

There are very few things as soul affecting than seeing the magnificent creatures of Africa in their natural habitats. A safari in South Africa is a once in a lifetime experience; at Ulusaba we understand this and aim to make your African adventure as special, fulfilling and memorable as possible. The excellent game viewing experience is complimented by other activities such as stargazing, bird watching and moonlit bush dinners or sundowners (weather permitting).

Daily Bush Walk

The daily walk at Ulusaba usually commences after breakfast. It is one of our most loved activities as you are given the opportunity to observe smaller animals that are often missed on the safari drives. Our ranger and tracker will enthral you with stories about the medicinal properties of plants, local beliefs regarding the wildlife and fascinating facts regarding the animals.

Community Tour

At Ulusaba your safari in South Africa will be made up of so much more than just experiencing the majestic beasts of the animal kingdom, it will be an experience in all things truly African. The community tour takes place outside the reserve in the local village and offers a fascinating insight into modern Shangaan lifestyle. You will be welcomed into a pre-primary school where the children will delight you with their songs. You can also expect to see some traditional singing and dancing as well as being welcomed into a traditional home where you will see corn being ground and be given a chance to taste traditional foods. The community tour offers guests at Ulusaba Private Game Reserve a chance to experience the eclectic mix of traditional and modern African way of life. Price available upon request.

Gymnasium

There is a gymnasium situated at both the Rock and Safari Lodges, which is available for guests to use 24 hours a day.

Tennis Courts

We have 2 floodlit tennis courts which have tennis rackets, tennis balls and a fully stocked bar!

Arts and Craft Shop

The Safari Lodge’s Arts and Craft shop is a favourite amongst visitors to Ulusaba Private Game Reserve. The selection of arts, crafts, curios and small gifts are wonderful mementos from your safari in South Africa. Take a little piece of your South African safari adventure home with you to serve as a reminder of what we guarantee to be your greatest adventure yet. We also have clothing ranging from caps, shirts, beanies and gloves… anything you might need.
