First off, we wanted to say that the entire experience with BIGDAY.com was extremely helpful as we live in Sweden, and it helped our planning extremely! We really loved how secluded Cap Juluca was...and we loved our honeymoon. It could'nt have been better. But what made it magical...was us. Not the resort. Honestly, it doesnt live up to its spectacularity. We had a cottage, with a rooftop balcony, so two floors. I am used to living in hotels where you get your own ice etc, but here you called your "house maid" for everything, and from what I understand there was 1 housemaid per 7 rooms. Great concept, and very upscale... but not functional. When we did call for ice, we usually had to wait close to 35 min... even though the ice machine was just downstairs .. most of the time we ended up getting our own, because we just got annoyed with having to wait, so I would run down into the maids quartersthe doors usually stood open and get my own ice. Also the room service... everything here at the resort is meant to look so exclusive and luxurious... but what the downfall is, unfortunatly is lack of trained staff... We never got the wine we ordered with dinners at roomservice...they were always wrong3 times we ordered and then we had to call back, and wait, meanwhile our food got cold.. etc. So it kinda spoiled the moment, if we allowed it to. But again it was our honeymoon and we didnt care about much.. Needless to say... the staff should be on more than island time. That is what we ended up joking about... that its ok because they are all on island time. But looking back, and the cost of the resort. It isnt really ok. Also, we had dinner one night at the fine dining restaurant... gorgeously set on the water... We splurged and ordered everything we wanted. Including starting off the dinner with a bottle of Moet.... problem here though.. it never came. Usually you want a sip before appitizers to sit and be social.. well my husbands appetizer came in after about 25 minmine was late and mind you NO CHAMPAGNE. And no apologies for how late it was etc.. then when it finally came, after my husband finished his appetizer, mine had still not come... It was WARM!!!!!!!! I couldnt beleive it!!! IF they didnt have one chilledits obvious thats what they were trying to do is chill it they should have offered us something else, instead of serving warm champagne. Again, they acted like everything was normal... I understand its the locals working there, and they are use to "no worries" and island time whatever, but then the resort shouldnt play up to be so 5 star accomodating. We were'nt impressed with the food at any of the 3 restaurants so we took a cab to nearby CuisneArt resort... MAN what a difference. Here someone who had trained all the staff well!! And the food was fabulous! So we went back there for the remainder of our dinners on the Island... Again.. the resort is fabulously romantic, and seclusive. BUt they havent quite got the hang of customer service yet or accomodating. Would we visit Cap Juluca again? No. But we would go to Anguilla again, and maybe this time try CuisineArt.
