Description
Located on the southern tip of Antigua in the Leeward Islands, Curtain Bluff encompasses 20 acres of lush tropical gardens on the Curtain Bluff peninsula, overlooking the Caribbean Sea. For over 40 years, Curtain Bluff's extraordinary service and amenities have set the standard for excellence throughout the Caribbean. Renowned hotelier and owner Howard Hulford selected the private location for the resort in 1957 – a peninsula surrounded by a reef which protects the property's two beautiful sandy beaches: the tranquil waters of the bay beach and a dramatic surf beach. The resort has been under his same outstanding management since it first opened in 1962.
Curtain Bluff is a member of the prestigious Virtuoso group of select properties worldwide. The resort has also received accolades from Travel + Leisure magazine – praised as one of the best beaches in the Caribbean – and was recently named one of the top 10 Caribbean resorts by Condé Nast Traveler.
Accommodations
The 72 guest rooms and suites offer all the qualities of island living combined with every essential amenity and service. Each room is decorated with comfortable wicker and rattan furnishings, ceiling fans, louvered windows, cool tiled floors and elegant marble or granite bathrooms. Whether on the beach or on the bluff, every room offers breathtaking ocean vistas and a private balcony.
In the past two years, Curtain Bluff has reinvented itself by demolishing most of the older rooms and creating 40 new junior suites, plus two new showcase accommodations, the Morris Bay and Grace Bay suites. Details follow:
Rooms On The Beach:
Deluxe Rooms: 18 beachfront rooms with six connecting pairs, offer king beds and sliding glass doors that open onto the beach.
Junior Suites: 40 suites, all situated on the surf beach with breathtaking views. With 750 square-feet of space, the new Junior Suites are luxurious and tropical with pastel shades of blue and green. Located in two three-story buildings, the suites consist of a bedroom with a king sized bed, a marble bathroom with a walk-in shower and separate bathtub, and a sunken living room with sliding glass doors opening onto a beachfront terrace. Fifteen pairs of the junior suites connect and can accommodate families.
Morris Bay and Grace Bay Suites: On the third floor of the newest building are the Grace Bay and Morris Bay Suites, both 2,000 square feet, lavish in décor and rich in foliage. The suites have a bedroom and separate living room that looks out onto a large terrace with a private Jacuzzi and sweeping views of the turquoise Caribbean waters.
The new suites offer a host of visual treats including fresh flowers upon arrival, luxurious marble accented baths with double sinks, tub and walk-in shower. Vibrant island-style furniture and Caribbean artwork feature island scenes. Adjacent to each of these suites is a junior suite that can connect to make two bedrooms or the entire floor can be rented to a guest who requests four bedrooms within the same suite.
Rooms On The Bluff:
Executive Deluxe Rooms: Five deluxe rooms offer king size beds, marble bathrooms and sweeping terraces with oceanfront views. For families requiring two bedrooms, the Executive Deluxe Room can be attached to an Executive Suite.
Executive Suites: Six one-bedroom suites with a private garden patio and an upstairs dining terrace. One-and two-bedroom suites with king size beds or, in the second bedroom, two twin beds and living room with terrace views of the ocean. These rooms have hammocks and garden areas. Jacuzzis will be added to the private terraces in time for the 2004/05 season.
Each room is equipped with two telephone outlets, one for Internet access and the other for the telephone. There are no televisions but guests are invited to use Curtain Bluff’s Television Room.
A very highly guarded, mutual respect has been cultivated between the people of the Old Road Village and Curtain Bluff. For this reason room keys are not needed. However, doors may be locked from the inside and each room is equipped with an in-room safe for guest convenience.

Curtain Bluff Honeymoon
Chuck
Wedding couple
About me: Early 30's professionals/honeymooners
|
|
We loved Curtain Bluff. It was beautiful and relaxing. The people and the food were incredible. If you're looking to lay on the beach, snorkel and eat like a king, this is the place for you. There is a band at dinner everynight and they stick around long after dinner. For the most part the clientel is older couples or families. There were a few young married couples but most of the guests are repeat customers, some for 20 or 30 years. This isn't the place for someone looking for a wild time. It's for someone looking to get away and drink daquaries on the beach.
