Description
84 chic cabanas spread over 18 private waterfront acres on the western-most tip of Bermuda makes it official - 9 Beaches is the closest Bermuda resort to the United States.
During the day the resort's clear blue Bermuda waters make it perfect for every kind of water sports activity. It's surrounded on three sides by water and a neighboring dairy farm that provides fresh milk to Bermuda.
Relax by simply lying in the sun on one of their nine beaches and enjoy a totally unhurried Bermuda vacation.
And as day draws to a close, grab a cocktail and experience some of the most magnificent and memorable sunsets anywhere on earth.
Bermuda, a British territory, is known as one of the world's most sophisticated and civilized islands with one of the highest standards of living, interesting history and culture, and the friendliest and most welcoming residents.
With 9 Beaches, Bermuda now has a truly relaxing tropical resort where you can really kick-back, throw off your shoes, and feel the sand between your toes. And, this amazing getaway is closer than you think - just two hours from most East Coast cities!
Accommodations
All 84 private cabanas sit on stilts and all have a view of the Atlantic ocean. The cabanas dot the hillsides of the peninsula with some located right on the beaches. A few are actually built out over the water and are connected by boardwalks. All the cabanas have wooden deck floors and those directly over the water have plexi-glass windows (2'x4') in the floor so you can see tropical fish swim by.
Each soft-sided cabana feels very open with lots of windows and French doors that open to a spacious veranda facing the water. Window screens keep Mother Nature out while ceiling fans and tropical off-shore breezes help keep you comfortable inside. For those of you who need an extra dose of cool, air conditioning is available in all cabanas.
Now some folks have called these rooms "luxury tents," however we prefer to call them cabanas. Up on stilts, ocean views, air conditioning, small bathroom and more make these way too cool to be called tents. Cabanas it is!
The cabanas are incredibly sturdy structures with aluminum frames and double walls of an extremely durable space-age soft-sided sailcloth-like material proven to withstand high winds.
Need proof? For any lawyer reading this, when hurricane Fabian had a direct hit on Bermuda in September 2003 everyone was amazed at how our cabanas faired far better than many big hotels on the island.
Just so you know, the roofs are also made of this same soft-sided sailcloth-like material. We have it on good authority that at night when it rains, the sound on the sailcloth roof is oh so romantic. But then again, you be the judge.
Lynn Wilson, a world-renowned Five Star Interior Designer worked on smart designs for 9 Beaches private cabanas. Lynn has completed a multitude of prestigious projects including the Biltmore and Boca Raton Hotels, Queen Elizabeth's Widlesham Moore Estate in Ascot, England, and Taj Mahal in India just to name a few.
Dining
Hi Tide, located at "Centre Stage," is getting rave reviews. Expect an eclectic, ever-changing menu with internationally inspired modern cuisine. From morning breakfast on the wide veranda to gourmet multi-course meals served indoors or on the terraces around the pool and overlooking the beach, you will love Hi Tide. At the Resort's heart is Dark 'n Stormy's, their laid-back beach bar and grill. It's right by the main beach, dock and Surf Shack. Light cuisine is available from lunch through the dinner hour. Of course you'll be able to enjoy Bermuda's national rum drink, Dark 'n Stormy - made with genuine Gosling's Black Seal rum. On theme nights you can gather round the romantic fire pit for evening cocktails and a multi-course feast like their Steak 'n Seafood Grill or Caribbean Grill. Wiggle your toes in the sand while you and your dinner companion indulge yourselves with one of Chef Guillaume's gourmet picnics. Need champagne or a birthday cake? No problem! Chef Guillaume can accommodate special requests. Your Barefoot Gourmet meal will be delivered to the chosen location and labeled as reserved for you. Beach blankets, cool box, wine buckets and everything needed to complete the setting for your special evening will be in place when you arrive. And of course, the proper lighting will be provided - tiki torches and starlight.
Activities
An all-weather, hard-surface tennis court stands at the resort's center. Rackets and balls are provided free of charge to hotel guests. Badminton, croquet and more...they have all of the equipment, all you have to do is ask.
Explore Bermuda's Old Railway Trail, per mile the costliest railway ever built. The railroad operated only 17 years and is now a well preserved nature trail.
For those who are lost without their routine, the Boondocks Fitness Center is the place to go. Cybex equipment includes 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical bike, 1 ARC trainer, and a multi-gym machine. And there's a great view of the ocean out the big windows.
Bermuda is famous for its golf. Today, Bermuda claims to have more acreage per square mile dedicated to golf than any other country! The Concierge can arrange tee times for you at a local golf course on request.
Organized to protect the fragile ecosystem of Bermuda, supervised trail rides can also be arranged for horse lovers. Don't forget your camera! Table tennis, foosball, and air hockey offer hours of diversion if for some reason the 9 different beaches aren't enough.
Of course there's always the option of just shopping and sight-seeing in Bermuda. From the wonders of the Crystal Caves to the charming streets of old St. George, they'll help steer you in the right direction.
