What documents do we need to travel to Fiji?
Passports are required by all travelers and must have at least three months worth of validity after the last date of their intended stay.
Four-month visas are granted upon entry for Australians, Kiwis, Americans, Canadians and most Europeans. Technically, a ticket for
onward travel and sufficient funds of at least F$50 a day are required, although proof of funds is rarely requested.
What vaccinations do we need to visit Fiji?

No vaccinations are required to travel to Fiji, and the country is free of yellow fever and malaria. When traveling from a
yellow fever or cholera-infected country, however, proof of vaccination is required. Read the
list of countries where
yellow fever is present.
As with travel to most countries outside the western world, a Hepatitis A shot is recommended.
Many travelers have already received this vaccination previously to their honeymoon - consult your doctor.

What airlines fly to Fiji?
Air Pacific, Korean Air and Air New Zealand operate a majority of the international flights to and from Nadi Airport in Fiji. From the United
States, Los Angeles (LAX) is the most common departure point, although there are also direct flights from Honolulu, Hawaii.

What is Fiji's time zone?
Fiji is 17 hours ahead of New York, or UTC +12. Another way of thinking about it: Fiji is four hours behind Los Angeles...but
one day in the future!
How long does it take to travel to Fiji?
From Los Angeles, flights are approximately 10 hours. Passengers from Europe will also stop here, in route. From
Sydney, Australia, flights are under four hours, and are only three from New Zealand.
Can we get married in Fiji?

How safe is Fiji?
Fiji has a very low crime rate, with petty theft being the most commonly committed crime against tourists. As you would in
your home country, guard against valuables and other items, especially on the beach and public transit.
In 2006, the military took over the government in a non-violent coup. The president was re-instated less than six weeks later,
however, his role is largely ornamental and the military remains in control of the government.

Where are hospitals in Fiji?
There are two major cities in Fiji, both located on Viti Levu. Lautoka Hospital is in Lautoka, while the Colonial War
Memorial Hospital can be found in the capital, Suva.
Most travelers, however, do not stay on the main island and serious emergencies may require a flight. Resorts often
have a trained nurse and/or doctor on-call. Rural areas often have a small health care center as well.
The country's only recompression chambers are found in Suva.

The water in Fiji has been treated and is safe to drink from the tap in all resorts and large cities.
Bottled water is
recommended in small villages, and is readily available throughout the country. The most famous brand, distributed
around the world, is 'Fiji Natural Artisan Water'.

What is the currency in Fiji?
The currency in the country is the Fijian Dollar, represented by F$. A rough exchange rate is USD$1 to F$1.7, 1 Euro to F$2.2
and 1 pound to $F3.2.
Where can we exchange money in Fiji?
Banks and exchange centers will allow you to change funds. Credit cards are also widely accepted and ATMs can be found in
Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
What languages are spoken in Fiji?
English is the primary language in Fiji and is spoken throughout the country. Fijian and Hindi are also taught in
schools and spoken by their Polynesian and Indian populations, respectively.
Is there an airport departure tax from Fiji?
Yes, there is an airport tax of F$30. It is often included in the ticket price.
