Popular activities in Fiji
Land, sea or sky, Fiji has something for everyone. However, the islands are spread out over more than 100,000 square miles,
so make sure to pick a resort near your top choice attractions!
SCUBA diving and snorkeling in Fiji
Malolo Barrier Reef: Ten miles of beautiful reef surround the Mamanucas. The slow-moving current around Malolo

Although it provides excellent proof as to why
Fiji is known as the 'Soft Coral Capital of the World', the speedy currents make it a better dive for those with
prior experience.
Naviti: In the Yasawas, this island is known for its Manta Ray spotting.
Surfing in Fiji
Mamanucas: Head out to the Mamanucas and visit Tavarua and Namotu Islands, home to the nation's
best surfing. Namotu Left, Cloudbreak and Wilkes are considered the top breaks.
Other Water Activities in Fiji
Everything else: If you can do it on water, you can do it on your trip to Fiji. Windsurfing, jet-skiing,
parasailing, speed boating, water-skiing - they're all available. However, before you book, enquire about
activities available at your particular resort(s).
Land Activities in Fiji
Plantation Tours: Fiji's landscape, especially that on Viti Levu, is dominated in areas by sugar plantations. The
nation's top crop, interested agricultural buffs can inquire about a tour and lesson how it is processed.
Hiking: Climb up to one of the low summits on the Mamanuca Islands, which are volcanic in origin.
Beaches: What would an island nation be without her beaches? And, indisputably, Fiji's are among the finest in
the world. For a twist on the common 'flat beach, coconut palms, blue water' theme, visit the Sigatoka sand dunes and
wander around on protected trails.
Air Activities Above Fiji
Scenic Flights: Helicopter and private sea planes will take you above and around Fiji's beautiful isles.
Skydiving: Skydiving opportunities exist in Fiji! Ask your BigDay specialist about booking a jump.
Cultural and Historic Activities in Fiji
Kava: The quintessential Fijian cultural experience involves kava, a bitter drink made of ground roots and accompanied by
blessings.
These ceremonies are often held for the benefit of guests but are found throughout cities, towns and villages in Fiji.
The experience is highly recommended and the happy chatter and lazy relaxation might be the highlight of your trip!
Firewalking and Traditional Meke Dance: Although fire walking is native to the island of Bequ, south of Viti Levu,
it is now performed at a number of resorts.
Interpretative storytelling through dance often recounts great battles
in Fiji's past.
Museums: The world's largest collection of Fijian artifacts is, unsurprisingly, located in Fiji, at the Fiji Museum in Suva.
The popular Arts Village on the Coral Coast also showcases
cultural events, alongside plentiful shopping opportunities.

Ruins and Historic Sites: A number of historical sites of interest have been preserved including the rock
paintings on Vatulele, the original Fijian capital of Levuka and the Tavuni Hill Fort on the Coral Coast.
Shopping in Fiji
Traditional handicrafts: Paris couture, $500 t-shirts and the latest runway designs are definitely not on offer
in Fiji. However, in their place are an assortment of hand-made artifacts for perfect souvenirs.
The best selection is found in Nadi and Suva, although all the large islands have a number of markets and each upscale
resort has its own gift shop. If you go off the beaten path, you might be able to buy your gifts direct from the
makers themselves!
