Check out Michael's slide show from his recent visit.

Accommodations

While typical bungalows in Bora Bora are approximately 400 square feet, all 120 bungalows in this resort range from 1,000 to 1,500 square feet. And the luxurious bungalows - whether beachfront, overwater or hillside - have gorgeous lagoon views.

The 120 luxury suites and villas at Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa are located on 16 acres of lush and terraced land overlooking a private cove of crystalline waters. The importance of Motu Toopua within Polynesian mythology is echoed through the authentic artefacts, decorations, and landscaping. The indigenous feel of the property is delicately offset by the luxurious oversized interiors of the suites and villas featuring marble tiles, exotic woods, and precious Tapa cloths.

The bungalows are complete with Indonesian mahogany canopy beds, Italian marble bathrooms, glass floor viewing panels (in overwater bungalows), satellite television, direct-dial telephones, CD players, DVD Players and Internet access.

Spa

Mandara Spa

The name "Mandara" comes from an ancient Sanskrit legend about the gods' quest to find the elixir of immortality and eternal youth. Mandara Spa, originating in Bali, has embraced this legend and continues to provide the ultimate spa experience.

Offering an extensive menu of spa treatments and services and situated on top of a black lava hill on the islet, the Mandara Spa awe-inspiring experience begins with the spectacular 360-degree view of Bora Bora's famous Otemanu peak and the islands of Tahaa (the Vanilla Island) & Raiatea. The extensive facilities include four exquisite private bungalows each with its own Jacuzzi and full bathroom, featuring even more breathtaking views of Bora Bora.

Fitting for its locale, the treatment menu will honor the healing traditions of the Pacific Rim. Mandara Spas are known for using pure ingredients in their natural state for body scrubs and baths. This custom will continue in the spa's signature treatment, the Bora Bora Indulgence – a 2 ˝ hour pampering package that includes a footbath using saltwater from the lagoon and fresh island flowers, a vanilla body wash and exotic coconut body scrub, and a full body massage and mini facial.

Traditional Ceremony at the Hotel

The ceremony will begin around 5:00 pm in a magical setting of coconut trees, flowers, & palm fronds. The Tahitian priest will conduct the wedding and declare the husband “tane” and the wife “vahine” and will baptize you with your new Tahitian names.

You will then exchange flower leis & head crowns, which symbolize harmony between the couple, and will receive a “tapa”, a sacred parchment paper certificate.

This package includes two pareos, 2 leis, head crowns, decorative items such as coconut palm & exotic flowers, the ceremony with Tahitian priest, musicians, dancers, & the tapa certificate.

Ceremony on a Private Motu

A traditional outrigger canoe will pick you up directly from the dock of the resort around 4:00 pm. You will then enjoy a half hour cruise before reaching the private motu. Upon arrival, you will be given a few moments of privacy in the most romantic setting. Within a few minutes, exotic flowers, & palm fronds will be raised by the Maohi Nui troupe. You will be dressed in local white pareos and adorned with flower leis and head crowns before proceeding with the ceremony. After picture opportunities with the troupe you will be gently whisked away by boat to admire the sunset while sipping champagne.

Honeymoon Daydream

The ultimate experience, a full day excursion inclusive of a lagoon tour by outrigger canoe, snorkelling in a coral garden, cocktail break in the crystalline waters, wedding ceremony on a private motu, Tahitian barbecue lunch, wedding cake, one bottle of Champagne, & non-alcoholic beverages.

One of the classic Bora Bora resorts, with a style all its own

The Bora Bora Nui has the classic feel of a historic hotel, without any of the usual drawbacks. Think "Waldorf Astoria in Tahiti". The detail and staining in the woodwork, the decorations, the overall style...it feels like a finely restored antique. It has a richness to it that the newer resorts can't match. Somehow they've combined this with a Polynesian look so it doesn't look out of place....the restaurants in particular have a very Polynesian look and feel.

Although you're on one of the motus surrounding the main island, there aren't very many bungalows that actually have a view of Mount Otemanu just a few of the ones on the far southern end of the resort. The rest get sunset views, however, as you're on the west side of Bora Bora. The wedding chapel and the spa at the top of the hill behind the resort have "to-die-for" views both east and west, however see the pics in slide show link below.

The views from the upper restaurant are spectacular--I'd say the Nui and Hotel Bora Bora tie for the best restaurant views in Tahiti. The pool is pretty cool as well, and they've done a nice job making interesting and scenic walkways around the resort ...check out the lily pond & bridge as an example.

  Amazing Secluded Resort

Shawn
Wedding couple

This resort was amazing and beyond our expectations. Arriving at the lobby was absolutely breath taking. We were greeted and immediately given an early check in. Our bungalow was gorgeous. Large, clean and it had a very Polynesian "feel" to it. We wanted a view of the open ocean - which we got. It was incredible. Because you are on the west side of the quiet island many of the rooms do not have a view of the mountains so if that's what you're looking for, I wouldn't expect it. The lagoon was crystal clear. The staff anticipated our needs before even arriving, leaving snorkel gear for us and having our robes and slippers neatly folded and placed on the bed. The bed. . . was to die for. Every person of the staff that we came into contact for was super. People remembered our names, offered assistance when we needed it - they even ran in the pouring rain to get us ice because we didn't want to leave our room. The wait staff in the restaurants were amazing, most of them speaking four to five languages, remembering what we liked to drink and eat and our room number. The resort has two restaurants, one casual and one fine dining. Both were equally nice, however, we felt the cuisine was average and be prepared to pay hefty prices - even for continental breakfast. Ambiance and environment though were definitely A+. We had the private beach side waterfront dinner - which was insanely fabulous. They put a private table up for us in a secluded area with candles, flowers, the works. If you can afford it - you MUST do it. We also had the canoe breakfast. Its only a continental breakfast, but the experience is worth it. The hotel offers many convenient shuttles to the main island and is incredibly easy to figure out. They also have kayaks for the lagoon and the pool is absolutely gorgeous. The spa is insane. Its at the top of the mountain and has ridiculous views. Definitely get a massage! We would without a doubt stay at this resort again. We could not possibly say enough good things about it.

Wow seemed to be the most used adjective during the 3 nights our group stayed at the Bora Bora Nui in March. I feel that if you are looking for a property to exceed your expectations then this one would be a great choice. The food and beverage was to the level that all others would aspire to achieve Fabulous New Zealand Rack of Lamb for dinner and also had the best Bacon Cheeseburger in French Polynesia here.
The accommodation is very spacious in all room categories so that is a huge plus and who doesn't love a two person bath tub in every room.
A side note would be that this property does not face the inside of the lagoon towards the main town of Vaitape so there is very little water traffic to look at while enjoying your ocean front local.
