Description

Le Meridien Bora Bora is located on a Polynesian islet, surrounded by a turquoise lagoon. It offers guests luxurious over-water bungalows with glass-bottom floors or beach bungalows under coconut trees. Activities include water sports, swimming with turtles, deep-sea fishing and shark feeding!

Accommodations

Beach Bungalows - art deco-style beachfront bungalows are available with either a queen-size bed or two single beds. The bungalows provide an exceptionally warm welcome, with their burnished hardwoods, louvered windows, thatched ceilings and earth-toned fabrics. Discerning guests revel in the authentic Polynesian feel, whilst also appreciating the modern touches such as direct dial phone, safe, satellite-television, CD, DVD and MP3 reader, minibar and coffee-maker. The spacious, air-conditioned bungalows, with a dressing area, are approximately 60 square metres. The bathrooms feature all amenities plus a separate bathtub and walk-in shower. Beach bungalows benefit from a private beach, with deck-chairs and hammocks available.

Overwater Bungalows - these air conditioned rooms are located right over the water, and the large section of glass in the floor provides endless fascination for guests. They feature a large deck, which is an ideal place to read or take in the sunset. Ladders from the deck make it easy to slip into the lagoon's warm, turquoise water. All bungalows are air-conditioned and have the same amenities as the Beach Bungalows.

Premium Bungalows - Ideal for travellers seeking romance, privacy or both, these bungalows boast the best views in the resort and have the additional advantage of being located at the end of the deck - a very quiet location.

Dining

Le Tipanie - the restaurant is unanimously renowned as one of the best tables in Bora Bora. Overlooking the interior lagoon, it welcomes you in an original setting. Dinner a la carte and several buffets on different themes offered.

Le Te Ava - the restaurant is located beside the swimming pool, where you can enjoy lunch with your feet in the sand, in a relaxed atmosphere. In the evening it is possible to have a special menu in a relaxed atmosphere.

Miki Miki Bar - distinguished above all others by its architecture, like the prow of a ship, pointing toward Mount Otemanu. It is definitely the best place to savour a house cocktail while watching the overwhelming beauty of the sunset across the lagoon, to the sound of a ukulele or Polynesian ballad, played by their talented musicians.

Facilities

Recently installed amid shady trees and a shock-absorbing spread of white sand, the resort's new playground is a world of fun for little ones, with playthings like spring-loaded rocking dolphins, jungle gyms, teeter-totters, swing sets, sliding boards and more. It's the perfect spot for young ones to flex their imaginations, while offering vacationing parents a bit of reprieve.

The new playground is just one example of how Le Méridien Bora Bora is leading the way on family-friendly hospitality in the region. From complementary kid-sized snorkeling equipment to special children's kayaks and sailboats, and an immaculate white-sand beach with hundreds of colorful fish swimming just offshore, there's no end to the fun for the junior set. The resort's renowned Turtle Sanctuary offers educational feeding sessions and an “adoption” program that lets kids keep track of their turtle's progress after they return home.

I recently visited Bora Bora on my annual Tahiti hotel inspection tour, and wanted to share my thoughts on Le Meridien Bora Bora.

This hotel is the busiest in Bora Bora. Honeymooners much love Tahiti as the ultimate romantic destination.

In addition to our honeymoon travelers, we receive travel requests from families who want to travel to Bora Bora, and this is probably my favorite Bora Bora hotel recommendation for families. There is a man-made sea water lagoon which is shallow and protected, much loved by families with small children.

The units are a little smaller than those at some of the larger Bora Bora resorts, but have a cool feature. The overwater bungalows have a large glass floor over the water, which gives you the feeling of walking on air. There is also an award winning turtle preservation program. The hotel has a nice white sand beach and lots of water related activities available. Le Meridien Bora Bora usually has very competitive hotel rates..
