Description

Legend says that Young Island was once the home of a Carib Indian chief who traded his island for a black stallion. Today, pottery shards are occasionally turned up by the more adventurous, supporting the local legend. Where once a Carib chief resided, you can now live like a king, forgetting time, not counting the perfect days that follow one another.

Young Island comprises 35 acres of a tropical garden. The trees are in fruit and flowers are everywhere. White ginger, hibiscus, crotons, and ferns are sheltered under tall palms, giant almonds, mango, coffee, nutmeg, and breadfruit trees. On the beach, white sand eases gently into the Caribbean and there are chaise lounges and mattresses for sunbathers.

Hammocks hang under thatched roofs for reading and napping in the shade. The cooling trade winds are ever constant--great for sailing and windsurfing. Windsurfers, small sailboats, a glass bottom boat, snorkels, masks and flippers are available at no charge. Scuba diving is readily available for the beginner or pro. Just off shore is The Coconut Bar, where drinks are served in fresh coconuts before the swim back to shore.

Accommodations

The delightful tropical accommodations are all in cottages--each with a refrigerator, wall safe, ceiling fans, king bed (twins on request), open air garden showers and private patio.

Superior cottages are nearest the beach, shoreline, and low on the hillside.

Deluxe cottages feature large rooms with a sitting area within the bedroom, or they have a very large private patio.

Hillside Luxury suites each have a bedroom, sitting room, and large terrace.
Two feature a plunge pool.

Beachside Luxury Suites each have a bedroom, sitting room, and large terrace with a plunge pool and gazebo.

All cottages have a view of the ocean.

Dining

Dining at Young Island under romantic thatched kiosks near the beach--or in the dining room surrounded by tropical gardens--is a memorable experience. Several nights a week, guests enjoy elegant buffets prepared by their award winning chefs.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are abundant, along with their gourmet selections featuring fish, beef, pork, and chicken. Breakfast offers such delights as flaming rum French Toast and our outstanding cheese omelets.

As a special treat and one that we are world famous for - each meal offers six loaves of freshly baked bread from their kitchen - white, coconut, banana, raisin, cinnamon, and wheat.

Rum punches, exotic tropical drinks, excellent wine selections, and many different Caribbean beers can be savored in their seaside bar and cocktail lounge.

Spa

Rejuvenating and relaxing spa treatments are the perfect way to spend part of your Caribbean holiday! Surrounded by tropical foliage, the location of the spa will enhance and enlighten your experience.

Services offered include massages, reflexology, Indian Head massage, facials, manicures, pedicures, paraffin wax treatments and waxing. Their line of products from Earth Mother Botanicals of Barbados are made from natural ingredients and include a Bajan cane sugar body scrub, Sea Salt body scrub, Ylang Ylang hydrating cream, Vanilla bean body lotion, guava seed foot scrub and mint cool foot lotion, among others.

Their excellent therapists are both from St. Vincent and come with extensive experience.

They lead through virgin tropical rain forests where there is a good chance of seeing (or hearing) the St Vincent Parrot (Amazons Guildingii) and the Whistling Warbler, both unique to St Vincent and strictly protected nationally and internationally.

Young Island weddings can be as small as two persons (plus two witnesses) and as large as sixty persons and they can be as casual or as formal as you wish.

The ideal island wedding can be on the white sand beach, overlooking Sunset Point, at the tropical pool side, the hilltop gazebo, on your cottage patio, or in the flower filled garden.

The beauty and serenity of Young Island make it the perfect wedding/honeymoon getaway retreat. Come and experience the romance of this special and unique island.

Local Area

St. Vincent's native tongue is English, having been a British Colony until 1979, and encompasses 144 square miles. Population is approximately 108,000. The Young Island Dock is a 20 minute taxi ride from the Capital, Kingstown, and 8 minutes from the ET Joshua Airport at Arnos Vale.
