Sofitel Bora Bora Beach Resort is on a private beach at Matira Bay, on the southern side of Bora Bora. The resort has 64 luxuriously appointed bungalows, each with a private terrace and a choice of garden view, beach front or over the water, which feature a glass insert in the bedroom floor. Facilities include 2 restaurants, a poolside bar, day spa and spectacular infinity swimming pool overlooking the ocean. if you are able to, i'd recommend that you stay on the sofitel motu. we stayed at the sofitel bora bora resort, we weren't able to change our existing reservations. the sofitel bora bora is only a 4 star resort, vs. the motu is a 5 star resort. the waters were murky and we didn't see many fish. the pool was out of commission during our stay. the service was outstanding though, i especially loved the ukelele greeters. during our breakfasts we sat near the water so we could feed the fish, that's the only time i really saw a bunch of fish. there's also a black lab that wanders around who likes to make friends. the hotel is situated near matira point, which is a public beach, otherwise there is not much around. the little town is pretty far, but the restaurants will come to pick you up if you dine there. two thumbs way down for top dive, we heard good things about bloody mary's though. if you are looking for internet connection, go to the novotel next door or walk a little to the intercontinental which is much nicer.
