Description
Sailing has a very long tradition in French Polynesia, beginning with the original Polynesians, who navigated as far as New Zealand and Hawaii, perhaps even to South America, in quest of new lands to colonize. Then there were the explorers, Bougainville, Wallis, Cook, and writers and artists like Melville, Maugham, Michener and of course, Paul Gauguin, whose color-saturated canvases became the icon of the Polynesian myth. In keeping with this revered sailing heritage, the sailing shop Star Flyer will be the first modern-day tall-ship to make its home year-round in French Polynesia, voyaging to the legendary Society Islands and the remote Tuomotus, the home of Polynesian cultural traditions. Star Flyer will offer intensely rewarding personal explorations of islands bearing magical names like Moorea, Bora Bora, Huahine and Rangiroa. Even more noteworthy, as she glides through these pristine archipelagos of unsurpassing loveliness, she will leave no sign of her passaging. This is a new itinerary for Star Clippers--the first sailing dates are in December 2007. To see itineraries and ports of call, click here.

Dining
Their inspired chefs make dining aboard a delightful culinary adventure, with an international menu of foods from the far corners of the earth.
When you rise, help yourself to a continental breakfast with Parisian croissants, toasted English muffins or sweet Danish pastries, or savor a full breakfast with fresh tropical fruits and crisp bacon, grilled sausage, smoked salmon and omelettes cooked to order in the dining room.
At lunch, a marvellous buffet of seafood, salads and grilled favorites awaits your pleasure. If the day includes a stop at one of the paradisical islands the ship visits, you might also be treated to a succulent outdoor barbecue on shore.
International cuisine
When evening comes, the elegantly appointed dining room becomes the setting for the chef's finest culinary presentations, designed to please the eye and the palate, complimented by a selection of equally fine wines. You'll find the service to be friendly and gracious, as befits a tasteful restaurant.
Activities
On Star Clippers, the day proceeds at your own pace, whatever that may be.
Indeed, the very notion of a rigid agenda of activities is foreign to their cruises. Join the Captain on the always-open bridge as he plots the course for the next landfall. Learn how to splice a line, reef a sail or tie a square knot.
Cool off with a dip in one of the pools, or unwind with a cool drink and your favorite song in the piano bar. Discover history and fascinating cultures on exciting shore excursions in the exotic ports.
If it's a beach day, you can swim, windsurf, water-ski, sail a Sunfish or explore in a Zodiac.
To entertain you at certain ports, they bring local performers on board to give passengers an authentic taste of the local music and arts. So, rather than enduring another Broadway revue, you can enjoy the conviviality of fellow shipmates while a live band plays tropical tunes from a real paradise.
The Captain and crew are superb improvisers of the kind of light-hearted fun you'll only find on Star Clippers. The Captain's daily briefing on deck is wonderfully informative, as well as a chance to hear some great storytelling. There are other events and activities, such as our hilarious crab racing contests, that have evolved from Star Clippers' sailing heritage. In fact, our passengers tell us that it's the easy-going informality of Star Clippers that makes a cruise with us so enjoyable.
