Dining

With a team of highly-experienced Thai and foreign chefs, Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi offers unquestionable culinary excellence, from relaxed meals by the poolside, to the finest Asian and European dining experiences in architecturally unique buildings, all of which reflect the glorious opulence of the past 700 years of the Lanna history.

Farang Ses - Serving the finest French cuisine in Thailand, the restaurant is located in a magnificent Thai teak pavilion overlooking the resort’s paddy fields.

Fujian - Offering the finest authentic cuisine from dining provinces around China, the restaurant is housed in a two-storey Sino-Portuguese style mansion.

Le Grand Lanna - A traditional Thai restaurant with cuisine from northern and central Thailand, the restaurant is nestled in a cluster of traditional Lanna buildings.

Rice Terrace - All-day dinning serving international cuisine, the terrace sits on the lower deck of the Villa Lobby with views of the paddy fields.

Loy Kham Bar - Adjoining the resort’s free-form Loy Kham Pool, the bar serves signature cocktails, juices and light snacks.

Oriental Shop -
Located in the traditional northern style boutique market, Kad Dhara, the Oriental Shop offers pastries, ice cream and the finest tea and coffee.

Spa

Dheva Spa

Dheva, pronounced ‘day-va’, is the Sanskrit word for celestial beings that inhabit the heavenly realm. Dhevas led a blissful existence, blessed with the benefit of a powerful karmic rebirth.

The Dheva Spa at Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi is a destination spa in itself with 3,100 square metres dedicated to relaxation and well being. Modelled on the Burmese royal palace that stood near Mandalay in Myanmar, the spa lobby is located at its centre with an impressive seven-tier roof symbolizing the seven steps to heaven, or nirvana.

Situated in a cluster of teak buildings, next to the resort’s Villa Lobby it comprises 25 treatment rooms and suites. All treatment suites have been created to ensure a truly indulgent experience that can be enjoyed alone or together. Each suite has a private Jacuzzi, steam shower, heated marble scrub marble and private treatment and relaxation area.

The Dheva Spa prides itself on the broad range of therapies and spacious treatment rooms and suites. An extensive spa menu offers many treatments that are unique to Thailand, and relaxation rituals that are inherent to the Lanna culture. To guarantee high standards of excellence, a team of skillful therapists are on hands to take care of our guests in the manner of ancient Thai royal protocol.

The Dheva Spa is operated by Dr Suchada Marwah, who has extensive experience of practicing in alternative medicine and holistic therapies in Thailand and India.

Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi is now developing an Ayurvedic Centre, due to open in 2006. The centre is run by Dr Rajeev Marwah, a much respected Ayurvedic doctor in Thailand and India.

Activities

Fitness Centre - Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi’s Fitness Centre caters to both short and long-stay resident guests, providing state-of-the-art equipment.

Oriental Culinary Academy Chiang Mai - Our Oriental Culinary Academy Chiang Mai follows on the successes of The Thai Cooking School at our sister hotel, The Oriental, Bangkok with daily classes teaching the art of preparing the finest Thai cuisine.

Cultural Centre - Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi is the only resort in Chiang Mai to offer guests a regular schedule for cultural programs and events. The Cultural Center will host lectures presented by local and foreign experts on a wide range of topics related to South-east Asian Culture. Art and Crafts demonstrations, as well as exhibitions based on the resort’s extensive collection of arts and antiques, will also be available.

Cultural Tour - The resort’s Cultural Tour explores the unique world of Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi. Spread over 60 acres of tropical landscapes, the resort is steeped in the history and culture of northern Thailand's ancient Lanna Kingdom. This guided walking tour, conducted by our resident cultural expert, highlights the art and architecture of the resort and the many different cultural influences that inspired it.

Jum Sri Hall Library - Located near the resort’s Kad Dhara Shopping Village, our library features a wide selection of books, journals, periodicals, magazines, newspapers as well as an extensive collection of movies on DVD and music on CD. Access to the internet is also available in our library. Guests may enjoy reading in the library’s cozy atmosphere or may borrow items to enjoy in the comfort of their villa. All items and services are offered on a complimentary basis for guests in residence.

Lanna Kids Club - Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi’s Lanna Kids Club offers a great way for kids to relax, have fun and learn something new while on holiday in Chiang Mai. Children will have the chance to touch and experience the rich culture and traditions of northern Thailand.

Shopping Village Kad Dhara - Our local market, Kad Dhara, is located inside the resort by the entrance's right wing. It is a small village built in the local traditional northern Thai style with a series of shuttered wooden shop-houses lining its winding pathways. This unique place is home to a number of speciality shops and designer boutiques, as well as The Oriental Shop - a pastry and coffee corner, and the resort’s own stylish Fujian Chinese Restaurant. A stroll through the village provides guests with a unique and hassle-free shopping experience.

Weddings

The resort’s serene natural landscapes and picturesque Lanna-style buildings offer one of the most magical settings in Asia in which to get married. Menus are prepared using only the freshest ingredients, while the wine and champagne list caters for the most expert palates. Floral arrangements make use of northern Thailand’s abundant roses, jasmine and strelitzia as well as exotic orchids, for which the country is famous.
