Description

Parrot Cay features the region's best spa and haute cuisine. It combines nature – 1,000 unspoilt acres, including a mile-long powdered beach – with understated style and cosseting service.

Think of it in simple terms: a place to rediscover those forgotten rhythms of long days, easy nights, and the salve of peace.

Parrot Cay is a sanctuary, just an hour's flight from Miami, which asks you to forget the world you've left behind. The island capital, Providenciales, is well connected with the US and Europe, and from the airport, it is an easy speedboat transfer to your private hideaway.

Then, immediate submersion: the body clock unwinds and finds its natural rhythm, the tide keeps time and the migration of the whales gives the season.

Accommodations

Interiors come in whitewash with chic teak finishing. The aesthetic is pared down but unerringly sleek, featuring four-posters wrapped in soft cottons that billow with the breeze. Simplicity matters, and the privilege of space, enriched by clean-lined furniture, open-air day beds, cavernous bathrooms and enveloping linens.

The accommodation at Parrot Cay includes standalone villas on the beach, within 100ft of the sea, and hotel-style rooms on slightly raised ground (a two- to five-minute walk to the sand).

Garden View Rooms

These rooms have direct access on to the lawn from the bedroom

Ocean Facing Rooms

Our ocean facing rooms are located above the garden view rooms with verandas that look out to the sea

One Bedroom Suites

These four one-bedroom suites (not on the beach) have large living areas and a second bathroom

Beach House

Parrot Cay's beach houses have one bedroom, with their own cooling plunge pools, hardwood verandas, whitewashed walls and expansive living areas

Beach Villas

Our beach villas are larger than the beach houses, and include a kitchenette. All villas have swimming pools.

Parrot Cay Estate

This private enclave consists of five, three-bedroom beach villas, all with swimming pools, which can be rented individually or in combination. All villas come with private butler service.

Dining

Salt air is broken only by the scent of spices cooking

Parrot Cay has set a new benchmark for haute cuisine in the Caribbean.

Richard Thompson, Parrot Cay's executive chef, joins us after extensive experience in the United States and St. Thomas. Lotus restaurant affords the opportunity for Thompson to reveal his inventive style with zesty Caribbean panache, while Terrace restaurant showcases Thompson's skill in haute cuisine, offerings guests Classic and Nouvelle continental interpretations using the freshest local and world product available.

At Parrot Cay, we offer comprehensive room service menus, as well as a healthful COMO Shambhala cuisine.

Activities

Although most of our guests come to Parrot Cay to relax in privacy, there are others who spend their time exploring the local region – both above and underwater.

Diving

The diving is exceptional, among the world's top 10 sites. Parrot Cay guests can rely on a team of experienced dive masters on the nearby island of Providenciales to show the way, including PADI instruction for beginners.

Watersports

You can also go deep-sea fishing, or partake in watersports off the beach, like windsurfing or catamaran sailing.

Gym

There is a fully equipped gym with free weights and cardio-vascular machines.

Island Hopping

Particularly popular are the visits to Iguana & Sand Dollar Islands. Here one can indulge in the natural solitude of powder white beaches and pristine shallow waters and perhaps even be fortunate enough to discover a snow-white sand dollar – a natural souvenir to treasure.

Awards

Local Area

At Parrot Cay, the point is nature. The sand underfoot feels like powdered porcelain. Pale turquoise merges into Prussian blue, the shades changing as the sun alters its position.

Some guests find their own stretch of beach; others prefer to relax around the resort's main swimming pool – cobalt, melting into the bright horizon.

There is a watersports centre (see Island Activities) and two floodlit tennis courts, a fully equipped gym, a 5000 sq ft Infinity pool, as well as trails snaking through the undeveloped back country.

Our library features a formidable book collection, as well as pool tables, Internet terminals, a satellite television and Playstation consoles.

A hotel boutique sells a carefully edited selection of gifts as well as holiday necessities like hats and sun lotion.

A sanctuary where mind, body and spirit are nurtured holistically

Parrot Cay attends to guests' needs at a deeper level, courtesy of COMO Shambhala retreat.

In a pavilion overlooking the island's wetlands, practice yoga with the world's leading teachers during dedicated retreat weeks, taking advantage of COMO Shambhala's extensive retreat facilities. As tall egrets pick noiselessly through the shallows, melt beneath the hands of specialised therapists who administer Asian-inspired holistic therapies, honed by international health consultants. Couple with our signature health-giving cuisine, and feel the benefits of a complete return to real well being.

At COMO Shambhala, we believe in balance - of mind, body and spirit - and the inspiration of the soul, afforded by a place of beauty.
